OF FIBRE AND LIFE... Bits and pieces of cloth sewn or glued together curtain the world. Bits and pieces of knowledge skillfully intertwined make up the study of history. Every civilization has this tradition of squirreling away precious fragments untill they are needed to create a whole. Works of art, especially in the 20th century are often nothing more than ordered fragmentations- with each fragment carrying it's own cultural load.

Perfect Simplicity: The unlike are joined, resulting in the most perfect harmony.
The lovely 18th century sleeve fragment and the Dove deserve a picture all to themselves.
Today has a been a good studio day, with the five 2D works all finished and mounted....I had forgotten to take my camera, so that will have to wait untill next week....now I can concentrate on the dresses.

So beautiful- these look sweet together...
Hi Ellen
I have just had a thought about printing on fabric, there is a book called The Painted Quilt - Laura Kemshall it is wonderful, I have a copy if you would like to borrow it for a few days. Gives lots of methods and ideas about printing onto fabric and the best stuff to use.

Thank you Julie....it sounds like the advice I need. I'll try to order it from the library, but if not I would love to borrow yours for a little while...it was nice seeing you on Saturday.
