OF FIBRE AND LIFE...
Bits and pieces of cloth sewn or glued together curtain the world.
Bits and pieces of knowledge skillfully intertwined make up the study of history.
Every civilization has this tradition of squirreling away precious fragments untill they are needed to create a whole.
Works of art, especially in the 20th century are often nothing more than ordered fragmentations-
with each fragment carrying it's own cultural load.

The combination of such ancient wood and antique lace seems just such simple beauty....although the lace, being Victorian, is nearly 300 years younger than the panel.
Love these. I like the quality of the wood against the lace. You always mix fabrics with that special touch to the soul, an understanding of the unspoken relationships between things....a gift that you have Ellen, and I feel you have been as successful with these too. Hugs Lynn xx
What lovely words Lynne....it is all about an unspoken relationship between things, isn't it....thank you! I am working on the final large hanging at the moment, and there is still another dress to do, but as my heart is in them, it isn't like work. Are you at New Designers again this year? Ellen xx
